Fostering the Love of Reading - My Brave Year of Firsts! /Studio 455 Photography, Central Wisconsin Photographer

In March, our book of the month donation to The Patterson Memorial Library was, "My Brave Year of Firsts, tries, sighs and high fives" by the #1 best selling team Jamie Lee Curtis and Laura Cornell. This is a SUPER cute book about a little girl who learns to ride her bike, gets her first pet, goes off to school, has her first camping trip and more. While the majority of the book focuses on good firsts, the book also deals with disappointing firsts - like the first time Frankie got caught in a lie.  My Brave Year of Firsts is a good look at the many firsts that a child experiences. The watercolor illustrations are as endearing as they are funny. The whole book should put a big old smile on your face. Check it out at Patterson Memorial Library - it is available in the children's department.

In Studio Family Portraits + Central Wisconsin Photographer

When the B family contacted us about taking their family portraits I couldn't help but be excited. I grew up in a family of four girls so it was a fun walk down memory lane to work with their four beautiful daughters. Their youngest had bright blond curls and blue eyes - just like my own baby sister. The girls were sweet as could be and we had a great morning with them. It was fun to hear them playing with our studio dollhouse while we photographed the sisters individually. Here are just a couple of the photos the family liked best!

Fostering the Love of Reading - "Slammed" by Colleen Hoover /Studio 455 Photography, Central Wisconsin Photographer

For February's book of the month we choose to donate "Slammed" by Colleen Hoover. This young adult fiction selection introduces the reader to the concept of Slam Poetry - a unique and beautiful art. The sibling relationships in Slammed are laugh out loud funny and it tells a love story so real it will resonate with readers young and old. Colleen Hoover self-published this book as a Christmas gift for her mother and it quickly rose in popularity to become a New York Times Best Seller. It is easy to see why it became so popular - check it out yourself at Patterson Memorial Library!

On this blustery winter day, we felt it appropriate to post a Friday Flashback! Danielle and Greg got married in Madison, Wisconsin in 2011. The day began with a "first look" at Allen Centennial Gardens.  After a beautiful service at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, we headed down to Lake Monona for bridal party portraits.

The reception was at the Monona Community Center - family and friends celebrated well into the evening. One of my favorite details was the cupcake display - complete with the bride's parent's wedding cake topper!

Jeremy grew up in the Madison area, and loves going "home" to photograph weddings there - it is within our standard service area so no extra travel fees apply! To Danielle and Greg - thank you for sharing your wedding day with us!

Fostering the Love of Reading - "Extra Yarn" by Mac Barnett / Studio 455 Photography, Central Wisconsin Photographer

When we decided to look at commercial properties in Wild Rose, the only other place in town that we visited before making an offer on our building was the library. It had a cute little children's section and offered a weekly story hour. We were well aware that in small towns, the library is the hub of a community; and we were thrilled to learn that it was open 6 days a week. In a town of less than 800 people, that is an amazing offering.

While we were preparing to open our studio, Jeremy and I fell into frequent discussions where we brainstormed a good way to give back to the community. We wanted our studio to support something local. Inspiration struck when we thought back to the Manawa library. They had an amazing selection of children's books, many of which were purchased with funds from a foundation set up by Sturm Foods. Excited. I spoke with library director earlier this fall, and he was enthusiastic about our idea.  Studio 455 Photography will be purchasing a book a month to donate to the Patterson Memorial Library.

We chose to focus on the Children's and Young Adult Library because we strongly believe that books can take kids anywhere. The very first book we chose to donate is, Extra Yarn by Mac Barnett, Illustrated by Jon Klassen. This book has amazing pictures and is absolutely the perfect book to curl up with on a cold winter day! Keep an eye out for it in the children's library soon! And Wild Rose? Thank you for welcoming us home!

Anna + Luke = Married / Waupaca, WI Wedding Photographer

It's a winter weekend wedding flashback!  Anna and Luke got married in Waupaca, Wisconsin in 2007 - long before we lived here (and long before we had a blog!) The ceremony was at Trinity Lutheran church in Waupaca. After the service, we stopped at one of our favorite Waupaca landmarks, The Red Mill. The bridal party was just as happy as the couple and super fun to work with. After portraits, we headed over to the  Waupaca Ale House for their reception. Anna and Luke were such a wonderful couple to work with and we wish them a (belated) happy 6th anniversary!

Emily + James = Married / Waupaca area Wedding Photographer

EJS FB Blog-0014.jpg

Our first wedding as Studio 455 Photography was on a very  cold July day.  Emily and James hosted their wedding at their home in Almond, WI.  They grew many of their flowers, built their own arbor and added their personal touch to everything.  Friends and family traveled in from all over the country, and by the end of the day I think everyone had shed at least a tear or two. The love they have for each other is so visible!  We are so happy for them and so honored to have been part of their day. Here are just a few of our favorite moments!

Fall Colors + Lifestyle Family Portraits / Wild Rose, Wisconsin Photographer

The T family traveled to our studio from Appleton in early October for a lifestyle family session.  Their cute son just turned five and he kept us laughing the entire time! They all have such fantastic smiles and were so comfortable in front of the camera - they could seriously be a model family. We had a great time taking them around Wild Rose; all of these portraits were taken within a short walk of our Main Street Studio.

There were so many great smiles to choose from it was hard to narrow it down, but here are some of our favorites from the day!  The kiss picture way at the end was mom's idea - and a fabulous one at that!  Thanks guys!

Cassie + Andrew = engaged! / Port Washington, WI Photographer

Taking in a sunrise over Lake Michigan was a pretty spectacular way to start our day. Although we had to leave Wild Rose at just after 4 a.m., the scenery and our time with Cassie and Andrew made setting our alarms all worth while.  We started our morning together in Rotary Park, took a walk through downtown Port Washington, and stopped at Smith Brothers for a coffee. We finished their session at Lion's Den Nature Preserve where we were joined by their cutie-pie son.  We are so excited to welcome them to the Studio 455 Family - we can't wait for their August 2014 wedding in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin!

Twice the sweetness / Wild Rose, Wisconsin Newborn Photographer
STWINS_0012.jpg

Our first newborn session in our new studio was with a gorgeous pair of twins from Appleton, Wisconsin.  Their parents had the fun challenge of keeping two babies fed, dry and sleeping!  Born premature, these babies were almost 3 months old by the time they were able to come in for photos. They didn’t sleep as deeply as an average newborn and really wanted to keep their legs stretched out – I can hardly blame them! These sweeties have come so far and I wish them and their awesome parents all the best!  Here are a few of our favorites from the session, Enjoy!
